Environmental Acclimatization

Wood is a hygroscopic material that absorbs and releases moisture from the air. Skipping the acclimatization phase leads to post-installation gapping or crowning.

1. We deliver solid hardwood materials to the site early, storing them inside the climate-controlled space where they will be installed.

2. HVAC systems must operate at normal living temperatures (60°F–80°F) and relative humidity levels (35%–55%) for at least 5 to 7 days prior to installation.

3. Installation proceeds only when the moisture content difference between the wood planks and the wooden subfloor is within 4% for narrow strip flooring (under 3 inches wide) or 2% for wide plank flooring (3 inches or wider).

Moisture Barrier & Underlayment Application
